World's Largest Hindu Temple

 

Akshardham, world's largest Hindu temple located in the capital city of India , New Delhi. 
It measures 356 feet long, 316 feet wide and 141 feet high covering an area of 82,342 sq.ft. 




The Grand, ancient-style, ornately hand-carved stone temple has been built with out structural steel with in 5 years by 11,000 artisans & volunteers.





Pramukh Swami Maharaj, revered spiritual leader of BAPS,
consecrated the temple on 6 November, 2005.




This temple is surrounded by a sacred water lake,
NARAYAN SAROVAR , which contains holy waters from 151 rivers, which were sanctified by Bhagwan Swami Narayan.


This temple has 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 domes and 20 quadrangular shikars.



It is home to the idols of all the 24 avatars of Hindu god Vishnu, 
not the usual 10 as is believed. It has 208 sculptures of all the Hindu deities.



This temple draws 8000 visitors on an avg every day.
